Melanie Ng

Melanie Ng is an award-winning journalist/producer and award-nominated podcaster, with close to 20 years of experience in media and communications. She is currently the midday host for CityNews24/7 and co-host of the podcast The Big Story, keeping audiences informed of the top news stories of the day. Prior to that, Melanie was the news anchor for Breakfast Television for several years. The production was honoured as “Best Morning Show”, earning a Canadian Screen Award three years in a row (2019-2022), with Melanie as an integral part of the hosting team.

 

Melanie has been recognized for her journalistic work, honoured by RTDNA Canada in 2021 for her news feature on a former residential school. That same year, she was winner of the “Best Live News Story” award, chosen by the Toronto Professional Firefighter Association.

From moderating political debates to anchoring Toronto International Film Festival red carpets, reporting overseas at a Royal wedding to co-hosting a podcast on parenting, Melanie has done it all, both at Citytv and various Ontario TV/radio stations. Melanie has also spent the last few years expanding her talent to teaching media and journalism at Seneca Polytechnic, acting in various films and television shows and moderating/speaking at various events.

Prior to pursuing a career in broadcast journalism, she worked in public relations with a focus on corporate communications. Melanie graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a double honours degree in Communications Studies and English, and a minor in History. She also holds a certificate in Public Relations from Humber College and a certificate in Broadcast Journalism from Seneca College.  She lives in Toronto with her husband and son.
